Saveology.com™ Sponsors Blood Drive and Donates Over 30 Pints of Blood to Community Blood Centers of South Florida
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – October 3rd, 2008 – Saveology.com™, a consumer comparison-shopping portal focused on lowering the cost of living for households by providing valuable cost savings on known brands and services, sponsored an employee blood drive. The Community Blood Centers arranged staff and a bloodmobile to assist over 34 healthy volunteers for a day at the headquarter office.
The blood center surpassed expectations by collecting 32 pints (8 gallons) of blood to support the local Community Blood Centers of South Florida. “On behalf of the Community Blood Centers of South Florida, we express our thanks to Saveology.com for sponsoring an employee blood drive and for the great turnout,” said Angela Wood, nurse assisting the blood drive.
Much of today's medical care depends on a steady supply of blood from healthy donors and donating blood could save a life. Community Blood Centers of South Florida, Inc, (CBCSF) is a non-profit all voluntary blood collection agency. Each year, CBCSF collects over 220,000 pints of blood and blood products for hospital and kidney dialysis patients. The blood center operates 16 donor centers which are conveniently located throughout South Florida in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties; additionally they have 36 bloodmobiles that travel throughout the community to assist the collection.
Saveology.com sponsored a blood drive as the need is great and employees were proud to participate in such a great cause. The blood drive was organized by Saveology.com employees Sarah Satchel and Trisha Jones, and Brittany Aikens who eagerly signed up many employees to donate blood. The drive was held during 6 hours which provided a successful turnout. “I am thankful for all the support we received to join in donating blood, “said Trisha Jones, Saveology.com trainer, “and the feeling of knowing you may have saved a life is the most rewarding part.”
Hosting a blood drive is one of many charitable events Saveology.com makes available. Blood donors were honored and given a certificate for participation and photographed for the company newsletter to enforce the importance of supporting our hospitals and show gratitude to those who donated.
